“But Not for Me” is a popular jazz standard written by George and Ira Gershwin. The Miles Davis recording of this tune is from a fairly early Miles Davis album, “Bag’s Groove.” The album was recorded in 1954 and released in 1957. It features pianists Horace Silver and Thelonious Monk, vibraphonist Milt Jackson (“Bags”), bassist Percy Heath, and drummer Kenny Clarke. This album features the first Miles’ recording with his iconic harmon mute sound, which he used on the track Oleo.
Horace Silver plays piano on “But Not for Me.”
