We are going to be doing a series of posts coming up highlighting Jazz History through the eyes of Brent Jensen. Brent is a professor of jazz at the College of Southern Idaho and a saxophonistĀ on a number of albumsĀ on the Origin label.
In addition to being a great player, Brent is extremely knowledgeable about the history of jazz. He did a series of videos for his jazz history class on his YouTube page about the various jazz styles. We will be sharing these videos over the next couple weeks.Ā Keep in mind these videos were done for a series of classroomĀ lectures, and soĀ a few thingsĀ he talks aboutĀ are relevant to the class and not for the community at large.Ā However,Ā there is great information in these videos, and if you want to know more about the history of jazz, this is a good place to start without having to spend any money!
This firstĀ video highlights the basics of Early Jazz.Ā Enjoy!
