“Like Someone In Love” is a tune written by Jimmy Van Heusen in 1944 for the film “Belle of Yukon”.
It has since become a popular jazz standard. The melody to this tune is absolutely beautiful and Jimmy Van Heusen yet again proves to be a remarkable composer.
Something to note about this tune is there has been a lot of interpretations of the harmony among jazz musicians since the original music was written. You’ll note the chord charts give some different options regarding the harmonic movement. So pay attention and listen to recordings of this tune provided bellow to hear what musicians are doing.
This tune has been recorded and performed in many different keys, but what seems to be the most popular jam session keys are C major and Eb major. The play-along is in Eb major.
