“Invitation” is a tune written by Bronslau Kaper. It was originally used in the 1950 film “A Life of Her Own”, but later became the theme music for 1952 film “Invitation” from which it derived its popularity as a jazz standard.

This is a great tune to play at any tempo, latin, straight-eighth, or swing as it lends itself to all sorts of interpretations. Invitation is most commonly played in the key of C minor.

  1. I studied for one year at CUNY, BFA in Jazz Performance. I play guitar. I disenrolled after it because of health issues. I am going to go back to finish my studies soon. For now, at home, I practice 3-4 hours a day and I learned so far all 50 Jazz Standards listed on your website (besides the ones I had learned at CUNY) and I intend to learn all of them.

I would like to personally thank you for doing this! I know you did the same college I do and I can say that CUNY is a great college and you are the proof. I live in New York.
