I’m Old Fashioned was written by Jerome Kern for the film You’ve Never Been Lovelier in 1942. Johnny Mercer wrote lyrics to the piece and Fred Astaire was the first to record it. It is often played as a ballad or at medium tempos. The tune is a 36 bar and most commonly played in concert F major among instrumentalists.
