“Days of Wine and Roses” is one of my favorite tunes. I have always loved the changes, and it’s got a great melody. Henry Mancini wrote the Days of Wine and Roses for a 1962 movie by the same name. Jazz musicians adapted the tune as their own, and now Days of Wine and Roses is now a very common and important jazz standard.
Wes Montgomery was one of the first jazz artists to record The Days of Wine and Roses on his album Boss Guitar. That’s probably one reason why many of the recordings I found while researching this tune were done by guitarists, such as Herb Ellis and Bill Frisell.
