Learning jazz language is super important for becoming a better jazz improviser. And when it comes down to getting the biggest bang for your buck, I always suggest learning a “lick”, or a short musical idea, from a jazz musician you love.
In today’s video I teach you a lick from one of my favorite saxophonists, Sonny Rollins. This hip Sonny Rollins lick is over a ii-V-I chord progression, and you’ll see why I like it so much. Happy practicing!
