How Insensitive or Insensatez in Portuguese is a bossa nova written by Antonio Carlos Jobim. “Insensatez” means “absurdity” or “folly” in Portuguese. The Portuguese lyrics were written by Vinícius de Moraes and English lyrics by Norman Gimbel.
This tune is said to be loosely based on Frederic Chopin’s Prelude No.4.
“How Insenstive” has been recorded and performed countless times by artists such as Joao Gilberto, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Pat Metheny and many more.
