There are hundreds of jazz tunes that are based on the chord changes to I Got Rhythm. Other than the blues, rhythm changes are the most common chord changes in jazz.

First of all, I’m very impressed with your site. There’s a lot for a beginner like me to take in. Maybe you can help me with a beginner’s question I have: in my jazz improv class, we practiced “Oleo” as a rhythm changes tune. I thought “rhythm changes” meant what it says, so I didn’t ask my instructor (I will next chance I get), but let me ask you: What do we jazz musicians means when we say “rhythm changes”?

Not too long ago I was in the dark on that as well. I thought it was simply a synonym for “chord changes.”
