Blue In Green

April 12, 2012 in Jazz Standards

“Blue In Green” is a ballad allegedly written by Miles Davis for his famous hit record “Kind of Blue”. It has long been speculated that pianist Bill Evans actually wrote the tune though Davis has been given credit for it. Miles claims in his auto-biography that he wrote all of the tunes on Kind Of Blue, however Bill Evans admits later on that he actually wrote the tune.
It has an irregular 10 bar form with a coda ending repeating the first three chords of the tune.
This is a beautiful ballad and definitely worth learning.
