Goodbye Porkpie Hat was written by the great bassist and composer Charles Mingus. It was first recorded on his iconic 1959 album Mingus Ah Um. The tune was written for the legendary saxophonist Lester Young who had past away months before the recording session. Young was know to often wear pork-pie hats. The original key is Eb minor, which is reflected in the play-along and charts below. However, Mingus also recorded the tune in F minor on his record Three or Four Shades of Blue. The Real Book seems to have adapted this key, and with it’s popularization, it may be played in F minor as well. You can find the chart in F minor here: Goodbye Porkpie Hat (Fm).
