		<description>Yes, I feel like I can really relax into a tune when I really know it.  Playing from a page can be limiting in improvisational music.  Reading music is a important skill of course, and on the bandstand it certainly is useful if someone doesn&#039;t know a tune, or if there is a special arrangement, or if the band is playing an original tune with limited or no rehearsal time.  In general, however, bands sound better when they aren&#039;t using charts.  As jazz musicians, we all should strive to know MANY standards off the top of our heads.</description>

		<description>Great advice!  We all know that we play better when we have these tunes committed to memory anyways.  There is much more freedom to express yourself when you aren&#039;t worried about reading changes off a page and hoping the other cats on the bandstand are playing the same ones.</description>
